Below I am going to share with you a few tips, tricks, and secrets a lot of the top placing and even IFBB figure pros are using to lose fat, lean up, dial-in, and win their figure contest. The secret is all in the fitness competitor diet.

It should be no surprise that a fitness competitor diet be strict and rigid. Such a diet should include enough calories to maintain energy for high-intensity weight training and cardio, but allow just enough calories to allow your body to burn off body fat. While your calories are an important factor, so too are the breakdown of your calories, the macro-nutrients: protein, fat, and carbs.

An often overlooked element in a fitness competitor diet is water. Water is a key element in fat loss. Most figure and fitness competitors drink up to a gallon or more of water a day. This increased water intake will flush fat and toxins right out of your body. Simply by drinking a gallon of water a day, you can increase your fat loss a shocking 87%!

Another important factor in a well prepared fitness competitor diet is carb-cycling. While this is a tactic many competitors fear, it is proven to be safe and effective. By carb-cycling you will trick your body into burning calories and fat at an unbelievable rate, all the while keeping your hard-earned lean muscle mass.

The aspect that makes a figure competitor attractive on stage is her overall muscle development and definition she presents on stage. This can only be accomplished with a proper contest diet, followed by a well-structured peak week diet plan. Your fitness competitor diet peak week plan will be MUCH different than the diet prep plan you followed the previous 12-14 weeks. Peak week is the time you manipulate your water and carb intake, and tweak cardio and training in a way which makes your body get rid of every last bit of water under your skin. It is an amazing process when implemented correctly.
